Apollo has a robust policy, built on the guidelines stipulated by the International Labour Organisation or ILO, on HIV-AIDS for all employees. The policy recognises HIV-AIDS as a workplace issue and deals with it accordingly.

All new joinees undergo a sensitisation session on HIV-AIDS as a part of their induction programme. Refresher sessions on HIV-AIDS awareness and prevention are also held, for continuing employees, periodically. These sessions are typically facilitated by the in-house Master Trainers, who in turn have been trained according to International Labour Organisation’s guidelines.  Currently, Apollo has over 25 Master Trainers in India whose focus remains on continuous knowledge upgradation and implementation of all on-ground activities related to HIV-AIDS.

Employees are also encouraged to spread the word on HIV-AIDS awareness and prevention by using the medium of community events, like participation in local parades and festivals, and by holding sensitisation sessions for customers.

Being an integral part of business, every year, AIDS awareness and community service is undertaken as a Corporate Goal, ensuring in the process that more and more employees are encouraged to become active participants, where good work is recognised and has a positive impact on an employees’ quarterly performance appraisal.
